Ethanol
Ethanol, or ethyl alcohol, is a well known energy source. An important motor fuel and fuel additive, the largest national fuel ethanol industries exist in Brazil, where it makes up at least 25% of the blend in 90% of the cars. Brazil uses sugar cane whereas most ethanol in the U.S. is distilled from corn. Other cellulosic crops hold great potential as the feedstock in cogeneration plants where ethanol fuel is produced in addition to electricity generated from the combustion of the feedstock’s biomass (bagasse).
How Renew enhances shareholder value with ethanol
Renew has identified multiple opportunities to work in consulting and project management roles in companies seeking to develop vertically integrated ethanol plants in South and Central America, and the Caribbean. Renew provides technical, financial and managerial resources in exchange for an ownership interest in the facility. Renew has identified business opportunities in countries where sugar based crops can be controlled from planting to harvest by the ethanol producer. Renew is actually working on a large scale sugar based ethanol project based in Peru and is exploring opportunities in the Dominican Republic and Brazil.
